Praised by Gary Lightbody, Tom Fletcher and Will.I.Am,
Conor Marcus has been described as one of the most promising singer/songwriters
to come out of Northern Ireland.

“I’m just a kid who loves writing and performing”, says Conor. “It’s just what I do.”

With influences from KiD RAiN to Bruno Mars, Conor’s songs range from melodic pop with rhythmic beats, to slower piano based moods and emotions.

“Some songs are based on my experiences and some, I put myself in other people’s shoes and see how they react to what life throws at them.”

Growing up in rural County Down, Conor learnt tin whistle and violin at school.
He wrote his first song aged nine and after picking up the Guitar at twelve,
he wrote ‘That Girl I Met’, performed it at his blind audition on ITV’s The Voice Kids
and reached the semi-finals, mentored by Danny Jones from McFly.

Praise, opportunities and awards followed. Numerous song-writing competitions, Spotify Play-lists, co-writes with artists like JC Stewart, Curtis Walsh and Prentice Robertson from The Vistas, as well as performing for the likes of Gary Lightbody and supporting artists such as Brian Kennedy and Janet Devlin.

All the while, in between studying Music at Bangor College, rehearsing with his band and playing FIFA, (he’s in the top 1% in the world), Conor writes and records.

“For me, 3am is just the time when the tap flows and I do my best work”.
His small home demo studio buzzes with beats and melodies and another track is born.

So far, Conor has self-released six singles and all have had radio play, including RTE,
Cool FM, Q Radio and BBC, as part of BBC Introducing.

Strangely, it was a love of Rubik’s Cubes that forced Conor into performing.
On a family holiday in Galway, spotting a rare cube to add to his growing collection
and short of a few euros, out came the guitar and busking showed the way.
Not only for new cubes, but for all the costs associated with being an independent artist.

“Busking is like my job. It pays for my gear, my band rehearsals, my recordings.
It’s like a paid practice”.

The streets of Belfast and Dublin are no stranger to this strummer, who nods to the likes of Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi for inspiration.

In  2022, Conor played his first headline show, promoted by Shine Promotions
and was chosen as one of Lowden Guitars’ four UK regional winners
to perform at the World Expo in Dubai.
